A woman named Mitu Akhtar (45) died after being hit by a truck in Bogra’s Shajahanpur. Her husband Abdul Majeed (50), an ex-army member, was injured in the incident.
The accident took place at Majhira port of the upazila around 10:15 on Wednesday night.
Police and eyewitnesses said that ex-army member Abdul Majeed lives with his family in Majhira Bandar area of Shajahanpur upazila in Bogra. He was returning to Majhira from Majhira B-Block with his wife Mitu Akhtar on Wednesday night around 10:15. On the way, the driver of a mango truck lost control in the Majhira port area and the truck overturned on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway. At that time, Majid-Mitu couple’s motorcycle got crushed. The housewife died on the spot. The injured husband was rescued and admitted to the Combined Military Hospital. The driver and the helper left the truck and ran away immediately after the accident. Shajahanpur police station seized the truck.
Shahidul Islam, OC of Shajahanpur police station, said that the truck was impounded but its driver and helper could not be arrested. A murder case has been filed by the family of the victim.
