On June 15, the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal announced that a partial committee of 260 members had been formed. In the committee, 24 people from Dhaka University (DU) are in the first list of the top post and the two posts of Vice-President and Joint General Secretary. The issue is being discussed in various ways. There are no qualified absolute leaders outside DU – many are reluctant to accept this. Many say that the one-time Tukhor student leader and former elected VP of Rajshahi University, the current senior joint secretary general of BNP, Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has led the Chhatra Dal as the top post president.
It has also been alleged that the partial committee of the newly formed Chhatra Dal has deprived many people outside Dhaka University. It is also alleged that the leaders and activists were not properly evaluated in the district metropolis across the country including MK BUET, Chuet, Medical, Rajshahi, Chittagong and Jahangirnagar universities, Dhaka metropolis.
It is known that 30 people from Dhaka University, one from Dhaka Medical College, one from Jahangir Nagar University, four from Jagannath University, one from Dhaka College, one from Eden Women’s College and one from a private university have been appointed in the new committee.
In the past 15 years, DU Chhatra Dal has not made any significant contribution to the movement to overthrow the government, but many leaders and activists are expressing their anger that Dhaka University is in the hands of the ring.
A deposed central leader of the Chhatra Dal, on condition of anonymity, said that in the last 15 years, 70-80 Chhatra Dal leaders and activists have been killed on the streets, but not a single Chhatra Dal leader and activist from Dhaka University has died. Chhatra Dal leaders and activists of Dhaka city, district and other universities were martyred. The committee of Emni Super Five consists of President Rakibul Islam Rakib, General Secretary Nashir Uddin Nashir, Senior Vice President Abu Afsan Mohammad Yahia, Senior Joint General Secretary Shyamal Malum, Organizing Secretary Amanullah Aman, Office Secretary (Vice President rank) Moh Jahangir Alam and Publicity Secretary. (Joint General Secretary rank) Sharif Pradhan Shubo all from Dhaka University.
Shahriar Haque Shimul, the 14th joint general secretary of the newly formed committee, said in a Facebook post, ‘Some issues urgently require discussion. In the first phase, the posts of seven people were announced in the Central Committee. Two important editors with Super Five. Needless to say, all are students of Dhaka University. No one outside DU had a chance here.’
He said, ‘After the president and senior vice-president of the committee that was announced, Awal, a student of Dhaka Medical College, has been ranked 12th among student leaders outside Dhaka University. In other words, apart from the post of super, the first 24 posts of vice-president and joint-editor have not been filled by anyone from outside Dhaka University.
The serious thing is that in this committee of 260 members, not even one student leader of Rajshahi or Chittagong University, two important universities of the country! The rank of presidents and general secretaries of some units of Dhaka has been given, so many people have asked the question that these two autonomous universities are a crime. Several student leaders from BUET regularly played student party politics at the center, but none of them got a place in the committee.
A person named Md. Asaduzzaman Mia wrote on social media, ‘Joint Secretary of Kushtia Daulatpur Upazila Jubodal Joint Ahabbayak Chhatra Dal Central Committee!’ This is true. Besides, where the tyagis are deprived, they suddenly rose and got the top post of vice-president. You have become like that because you are close to the top person – the opinion of many.
It has been alleged that the top leaders of the Chhatra Dal said to follow the protocol regarding the appointment of the Chhatra Dal in the partial committee, but it was not followed in the declared committee. Former president of Dhaka University Chhatra Dal Khurshid Alam Sohail has been made vice-president number 7, but the vice-president of the university has been posted above Sohail in the committee. Besides, member number 1 of the previous committee was made the communication secretary, but member number 3 was made joint secretary.
Besides, it is alleged that many controversial people including businessmen, jobbers, shopkeepers have been appointed in the Chhatra Dal committee. Many people said that if this continues, no one will come to student politics in this difficult time. Expressing anger, some say, no more student rajinitti. If this continues, the organization will face staff crisis in the next generation.
In future, a campus circle, nepotism, camaraderie, sudden emergence, not ‘my man’ but the sacrificers, hard workers in the field will lead the Chhatra Dal to the top positions of the organization’s deprived leaders and activists.
Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib said that Kushtiar has become the joint convener number 4 of Daulatpur Upazila Jubo Dal and the joint general secretary of Chhatra Dal. We have received complaints about this. We will review the matter and take a decision. Besides, we could not give posts in the central committee of any university. After the announcement of those university committees, I will appoint them to the central position.
