Eid-ul-Azha, one of the biggest religious festivals of Muslims, is going to be celebrated all over the world. But this is not joy, it has become a cause of suffering for the Palestinians. Mourning is flowing in their homes due to Israeli aggression.

Israel has been attacking the besieged Gaza Strip since October 7 last year. The other part of the West Bank is not at peace. The people of Palestine used to celebrate Eid widely in spite of limitations, but this time there is no joy among them. Israeli attacks, raids and economic hardship have made them desperately helpless.

On the eve of Eid al-Adha, work permits for about 80,000 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank have been revoked. More than 170,000 Palestinians worked in Israel before the conflict began. A large part of their economy came through it.

There is no demand in the cattle market before Eid-ul-Azha. Because the residents are in mourning.

“We are not in a position to rejoice,” said Nadir Abu Arab. There is grief in every house. Dozens of people are killed every day. Our current situation is worse than the Nakba of 1948 (Palestinians began to become refugees in the Arab-Israeli war). ’

Osama Abboud, owner of a clothing store in Ramallah, said sales at his store were down more than 70 percent compared to last year. Buyers are not available even with discounts on prices.

“This is the second Eid of the war. We are not in a state of joy. Very few people are shopping for Eid. Buying clothes. This is due to war, destruction, grief and deteriorating economic conditions. ’
