Two people were killed and five injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Barisal highway in Kashipur area of Barisal.
The accident took place on Sunday (June 16) in Gariapar when a passenger bus hit the back of a truck full of gas cylinders.
Among the dead, one is Sohag (18) and the identity of the other is not known.
The injured are Ziaul Karim (33), Jahangir Mollah (45), Ekramul (26), Arif (30) and Iman (30).The injured were rescued and admitted to Barisal Sher-i Bangla Medical College (Shebachim) Hospital.
Barisal Metropolitan Police Airport Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Lokman Hossain said that a merchant bus carrying passengers from Dhaka was heading towards Barisal’s Nathullabad terminal. At that time a truck full of gas cylinders was stopped on the highway. When the bus hit the back of the stopped truck at high speed, the truck overturned and fell into the nearby pond.
Lokman Hossain said that the front part of the bus was twisted.
