Several bones and skulls were found in the soil of a drug dealer’s house in Savar, Dhaka. According to the police, these bones and skulls have been initially confirmed to be young Tofazzal Hossain alias Tunor (28), who went missing 10 months and 24 days ago from Imandipur area of Savar. The murder happened because of a dispute over the drug trade.

Police of Dhaka District (North) Detective Branch (DB) recovered these bones from the house of a person named Swapan on Anandpur City Lane in Savar on the basis of the investigation of another murder case. Tofazzal Hossain is the son of Chelamat Mia of Imandipur area of Savar. He left home on July 18 last year and never returned home. After Tofazzal went missing, his family filed a GD (General Diary) at Savar Model Police Station. Police said that Swapan is a drug dealer.

DB officials said that on June 2, a woman named Seema Akhtar went missing from a rented house in Mineranagar area of Savar’s Birulia Union. Later, a raid was conducted under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police (DB) Mobashshira Habib Khan of Dhaka district and a person named Saiful Islam was arrested in the incident last Thursday. Based on the information given by Saiful, the body of Seema Akhtar was recovered from the ground in Mineralnagar area. These bones and skulls were recovered based on Saiful’s statement.

Dhaka District Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. went to the spot around 7 pm today after recovering the bones and skulls. Asaduzzaman. There he told the reporters that Saiful was arrested by police of DB and Savar Model Police Station on the basis of Seema abduction and murder case. In his confessional statement in court, Saiful described how Seema was killed. Apart from this, 5 people, including a drug dealer, were involved. During the investigation of the incident, Tofazzal’s murder came to light. Then on Tuesday morning, DB arrested Swapan with firearms from Kulla of Dhamrai upazila.

The Superintendent of Police said that during the interrogation of Saiful, the soil of the house was dug up on Monday as it seemed that Tofazzal’s body might have been buried in the house of drug dealer Swapan on Anandpur City Lane in Savar. After Swapan was arrested, he confessed to killing Tofazzal. Later, a few pieces of bones and a skull were found in a certain place of the house shown by him.

In response to the question, how was the body of the missing Tofazzal Hossain confirmed? Asaduzzaman said, a shirt was found next to the body. Seeing it, Tofajjal’s wife confirmed that it was her husband’s shirt. Apart from this, as the shirt he was wearing in the CCTV camera footage before the disappearance and the shirt found there are the same, prima facie the organs seem to be Tofajl’s. The matter can be said with more certainty after the DNA test. During the interrogation, the arrested accused said that Tofajjal was abducted due to a dispute over drug dealing and was strangled to death and his body buried in the ground.

Tofazzal Hossain’s uncle Osman Gani said, ‘We want Swapan to be hanged. That father (yaba) sells tablets. He is a terrorist. Tofazzal forbade him (Swapan) to sell yaba in Imandipur. Sometimes the two clashed over this issue. I doubted myself before. He hired people and sold yaba in the area.’

Rani Begum, the wife of deceased Tofazzal Hossain, said in a tearful voice, ‘Swapan is killing my husband. May he (Swapan) be killed the way my husband was killed.’
