Citizens of more than 100 countries can apply for this one-year leadership development program. This program is designed for civil society leaders aged 20 to 27 years. CEE envisions enabling civil society to address pressing issues of the 21st century by harnessing the power of networks, relationships and information for public good, including civil dialogue and peacebuilding, free and participatory governance, women and gender, adaptive capacity and sustainable development, and youth activism. . Under this program there is a fully funded three-month hands-on learning opportunity at an American civil society organization.
The aim of the Community Engagement Exchange (CEE) program is to empower participants (Fellows) to create innovative environments for civil society globally by realizing greater leadership roles, building civil society capacity and enhancing participants’ capacity to provide collaborative leadership. In addition to a fully-funded three-month hands-on practicum in the United States, the program includes online and face-to-face training in leadership and social activism, service learning opportunities, mentoring, and implementing fellows’ development projects in their respective countries.
Other Eligibility Conditions for Application—
- Applications that do not meet the eligibility criteria will be disqualified. The selection committee will not review this application.
- Age should be between 20 to 27 years.
- High speaking and writing ability in English.
- A commitment to return home to complete a community engagement project (CEP) conducted with civil society participation in the home country.
- Not a US citizen or permanent immigrant and have not applied for permanent immigration to the US within the past three years.
- Applicants who have participated in a U.S. government-sponsored exchange program must have completed two years of residency in their home country.
- Commitment to return to home country for at least two years at the end of the program.
