Joint General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League and Member of Parliament of Dhaka-8 Constituency Agriculture AFM Bahauddin Nashim said, we will protect the Bengali ethnicity, our culture and traditions in a non-communal spirit under the leadership of national treasure Sheikh Hasina.

He further said, ‘The group called BNP-Jamaat wants to tarnish our Bengali ethnicity by spreading communal venom. They want to ruin our traditions by ruining non-communal ceremonies.’

On Sunday (April 14) morning, on the occasion of Bengali New Year 1431, Bahauddin Nashim said these things at the opening ceremony of the discussion meeting and colorful rally organized by Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League in front of Bahadur Shah Park.

Bahauddin Nashim said, ‘BNP-Jamaat sponsors communal militant groups in Bangladesh. We have to protect the golden Bangladesh of the father of the nation from the hands of BNP-Jamaatis. We will take our Bangladesh forward under the leadership of national treasure Sheikh Hasina. No conspiracy can hinder our progress.’

He said, ‘We have to build a non-communal Bangladesh. The main point of non-communal consciousness is that we all have to preserve our heritage in non-communal spirit irrespective of caste and creed. To protect this non-communal spirit, national hero Sheikh Hasina has struggled for a long time.

After the fall of dictator Ershad, the people of Bangladesh dreamed of building a non-communal Bangladesh. The Baishakhi ceremony held at Ramna Botmool was stopped by the Home Minister of the Khaleda Zia government. The Baishakhi celebrations of the Bengali nation were stopped and banned. Because BNP-Jamaat did not want Bangladesh to develop in a non-communal spirit.

Before participating in the Bangla New Year discussion meeting and colorful rally organized by Awami League, Bahauddin Nashim participated in the morning music program of Ramna Botmoole Chayanot, the biggest event of Bengali New Year celebration in the capital at 6:15 am.
