General Secretary of Awami League and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader said, ‘Benazir and Aziz are not members of Awami League, we did not make them. Sheikh Hasina’s government has the honest courage to prosecute their corruption.
He said this at a representative meeting at the Dhaka district Awami League office in Tejgaon of the capital on Sunday morning. Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League organized this meeting on the occasion of the historic 6-point day and Bangladesh Awami League’s founding anniversary.
Obaidul Quader said, ‘Benazir Ahmed is not a member of our party. He became IGP with seniority. Aziz Ahmed is also not from our party. He became the army chief with his own merit and seniority. We didn’t make him. When news of any crime comes to the government, Sheikh Hasina’s government has the honest courage to prosecute it.
At that time, Bridges Minister also said, ‘Awami League has not appointed anyone who breaks discipline in police, army, RAB or administration. Who made the 9th person Moin Uddin the army chief by passing the 8 people? Begum Khaleda Zia. Who created former IGP Shamsul Huda, SP Kohinur? Mirza Fakhrul has forgotten, acting chief of BNP ten years in the arms case, today absconding accused in money laundering. Our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is known as an honest politician at home and abroad. There is no room to question his integrity.’
BNP chief Khaleda Zia was convicted in corruption case. With Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s generosity, the sentence has been postponed and he is able to take treatment at home. Today that BNP speaks against corruption and money laundering.
Awami League General Secretary said, ‘BNP is the birthplace of miscreants. If there is any corruption in the leadership of our party, bring the evidence. Today, BNP is trying to make their corrupt fugitive Tariq Rahman a good person.’

Obaidul Quader said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working day and night to control the increase in commodity prices and inflation.”
He said, ‘Bangladesh 15 years ago and today’s Bangladesh are radical changes. What Sheikh Hasina has done is development. Which has no comparison. Padma Bridge, Metrorail, Elevated Expressway, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Karnaphuli Tunnel in Chittagong – Bangladesh is only looking at development.’
In his speech, Awami League general secretary emphasized on the discipline of party leaders and workers. He said, ‘If you are in trouble, tell me, don’t do bad things. If the enemy learns of our own weakness, we will suffer the most.’
At this time, the general secretary of the party, Obaidul Quader, called upon the democracy-loving educated people of the country to join the Awami League. He said, ‘Awami League is the only party in the country which practices democracy within the party from birth. Have the honest courage to correct their mistakes.’
