Bangladesh has recently provided India with various transit facilities by rail, road or river. Now the demand for road connectivity between the two countries on a completely new route has come up in the election campaign of Jalpaiguri constituency in India.

This corridor between Dhaka-Delhi has never been discussed at the diplomatic level. But for the time being, the border area of Nistarang Jalpaiguri will be satisfied with the demand of this Tentulia Corridor.

As a result, a strong campaign is going on in the nearby Jalpaiguri parliamentary seat of India around the demand for the right to the 14 km road in the northern part of Bangladesh.

Voting will be held there on Friday, April 19, in the first phase of elections in India.

Indians call the proposed route the ‘Tentulia Corridor’ – which they believe will make it easier for a large swath of people in northern West Bengal to travel to Kolkata.

Now the people of various areas including Rajganj, Mekhliganj have to go to Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal via Siliguri.

But if you can travel 140 kilometers through Bangladesh, that distance will be reduced by about 100 kilometers.

Also time and cost will be saved, busy city like Siliguri can be avoided on the road.

For this reason, the people of Bangladesh have been asking for the right to pass through this ‘corridor’ for a long time.
