What happens if the World Cup match is tied or canceled due to rain?

The ninth edition of the T20 World Cup is just a few days away. The World Cup will begin on June 1 with a match between the United States and Canada. This time USA and West Indies are hosting the World Cup. The number of teams has increased. The rules have also changed.

The number of teams
used to be 16 teams. It has been increased to 20 this time. As a result, many lesser-known countries also got a chance to play. For example, Uganda can play from Africa. They are playing the World Cup for the first time. The same applies to Papua New Guinea.

World Cup Group
20 teams are divided into four groups. Each group has five teams. They will turn it against each other. The top two teams from each group on points will qualify for the Super Eight. There eight teams will be divided into two groups. There too each team in a group will play each other once. There too the first two teams will qualify for the semi-finals. The two teams who win the semi-finals will play in the final.

What happens if the match is tied or lost?
In case of tie in any match, super over will be played. If there is no settlement, one more super over will be played. Same rule applies to all tied matches.

If any match in the group stage or Super Eight is not completed due to weather, each team must play at least five overs to decide the winner. In case of knock out matches, both teams have to play at least 10 overs.

In case of semi-finals and finals, there will be an additional 190 minutes waiting time in case of rain. If the match is started then the entire 20 overs will be played. There is a reserve day for the first semi-final and the final, but not for the second semi-final. Source: Anandabazar
