Kolkata Knight Riders are the champions again in the recently concluded 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Kolkata won the title twice under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir in 2012 and 2014.
Kolkata Knight Riders won the third IPL title under Gambhir after 10 years. Gautam Gambhir led KKR in the previous two editions but in this edition he was in the role of mentor.
Not only that, Irish all-rounder Ryan Ten Descat was in charge of KKR’s assistant coach in this season despite his performance on the field in bat and ball in the previous two seasons.
Three star cricketers played a leading role in giving three titles to Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khad’s team. They were part of KKR’s three title-winning teams.
Coincidentally, India’s World Cup-winning former star opener Gautam Gambhir, West Indies’ star all-rounder Sunil Narine and Ireland’s star cricketer Ryan Ten Descat were the winners of Kolkata Knight Riders’ three titles.
