Two sisters died after drowning in pond water in Panchora village of Comilla’s Burichong Upazila Rajapur Union.
The incident took place on Wednesday (May 22) at noon in Panchora Dakshin Kalem para mosque-adjacent pond.
Those two sisters are Umme Kulchum Tamanna (9) and Khadija Akhter (7). The father of these two deceased sisters of Panchora village is Ghatak Hafez Mia.
The former chairman of Panchora village Birmuktijoddha Shahjahan and Union A-League president Siraj Chowdhury confirmed the matter.
It is known that they went down to bathe in the pond and drowned. The family did not find much around the house. Later the locals went down to the pond and searched and rescued the two sisters and took them to Comilla Medical College Hospital where the working doctors declared them dead.
