Fake notes of 1000 and 500 taka recovered in Gazipur, arrest 2

Gazipur Metropolitan Police raided a flat in North Khailkur of Gacha police station in the city and recovered 884 counterfeit notes worth 500 and 1000 taka four lakh 92 thousand and arrested two persons.

Gazipur Metropolitan Police South Division Deputy Police Commissioner Mohammad Ibrahim Khan gave this information in a press briefing on Monday (May 20).

The arrested are Shiblu (39), son of Ruhul Amin of Pakhiya village of Borhanuddin police station of Bhola district, and Rakibul Hasan (27), son of Momen Mia of Chich village of Burichong police station of Comilla district. The two of them used to rent that flat and deal in fake money. In this regard, there is also a case against the accused Shiblu in March 2022 in GMP Basan police station.

It was informed in the press briefing that on Sunday night at around 1.30 am, a raiding team of Gacha police led by SI Md Sakhawat Hossain raided flat number 12 of the 4th floor of the six-storey house owned by Janaika Jini, adjacent to Battala Mor Shrine in North Khailkur. At that time, a total of 784 alleged fake notes of the value of 500 taka, i.e. three lakh 92 thousand taka, and a total of 100 alleged fake notes of the value of 1000 (one thousand) taka, or a total of one lakh taka, were kept in a shopping bag under the mattress in a room of that flat. Four lakh 92 thousand fake rupees were recovered and two people involved in buying and selling fake currency notes were arrested.
