Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Central Working Committee member and Dhaka Metropolitan South Secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud said, for the past 17 years, the Awami League had crippled every citizen of Bangladesh. It has destroyed the country’s economy, foreign policy, and politics. The nation has been crippled by destroying all the constitutional institutions of the state.
He made these remarks at a reception for indomitable and talented students with physical disabilities at Dhaka University’s Battala on Thursday (February 6) to mark the 48th founding anniversary of Islami Chhatra Shibir.
Addressing the physically disabled but indomitable talented students, Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud said, ‘Those who have overcome physical disability and presented themselves as possessors of indomitable talent are the assets of this nation. You are only physically disabled. But Allah Almighty has made you talented. He has increased you in different ways, has brought you forward.
He said, “Those who have joined the movement to build a new Bangladesh, sitting in wheelchairs and using scratch, are the guides of this nation. Seeing them has increased the motivation of the people. The physically disabled will no longer be disabled by the state. Under the leadership of Islami Chhatra Shibir, citizens of all classes and professions of this country will participate in the responsibilities of running the state, including parliament, avoiding physical disabilities.”
He also said, “The necessary facilities for disabled students are part of the fundamental right to be ensured by the state. But it is a shame for the nation that students are deprived of the opportunity to use disabled-friendly toilets in institutions like Dhaka University. If an Islamic state is established, the fundamental rights of every citizen will be ensured by the state. There will be no need to agitate for the realization of rights.”
At this time, he called on all citizens to unite in building an Islamic society in the new Bangladesh.
Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud said, ‘Islami Chhatra Shibir is a unique example of talent, skill and ability. Islami Chhatra Shibir was formed on February 6, 1977, from the central mosque of Dhaka University with only six members. Since its establishment, the role and leadership of Islami Chhatra Shibir in establishing knowledge, science, talent, and peace have captured the hearts of the people of this country. That is why the Shibir is walking its path today with countless companions and members.’
He said, “Islami Chhatra Shibir has organized an indomitable meritorious reception for physically disabled students. This is not their own authority. This is a sign of Allah’s law and Islam. Islam has ordered to honor the worthy. If an Islamic state is established, every citizen will be entitled to respect in light of their own qualifications and skills.”
At the main reception, Dhaka University student Ibnu Ahmed, who works for the development of disabled students, Dhaka University disabled students Kamrun Nahar Ritu and Pushpita Chowdhury, Jahangirnagar University political science student Nazim Hossain, and Jagannath University student Imran Hossain spoke expressing their feelings.
During this time, they highlighted their various problems at the university and called for initiatives to be taken to solve these problems under the leadership of Islami Chhatra Shibir.
Manarat International University VC Professor Dr. Mohammad Abdur Rob, Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir Central President Zahidul Islam, National Doctors Forum President Dr. Nazrul Islam, former Islami Chhatra Shibir Central President Zahidur Rahman, former Islami Chhatra Shibir Central President Engineer Sirajul Islam and other prominent figures were present at the event.
