Honorable Ambassador of the Republic of Korea appointed to Bangladesh Mr. Park Young Shik and Deputy Chief Mission Miss Jinhee Back visited the central office of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Meet Shafiqur Rahman in a courtesy call.
Today Tuesday (October 8) at 10 a.m., after meeting the central office of Jamaat-e-Islami in Moghbazar, they addressed a short press briefing to the countrymen.
In this short press briefing Ameer Jamaat Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “We discussed the issues related to the interests of the two countries. We also both expressed our views on how to further advance the friendly relations between the two countries. Recently there was a mass uprising of the students in the country and the government followed an ugly path to suppress the anti-quota movement formed by the students and youth of our country to end the 15-and-a-half-year struggle of the people of the country against an authoritarian government. At the cost of countless lives, at the sacrifice of thousands of people and at the same time fighting in exile, this nation has been temporarily liberated.
We discussed how to take Bangladesh forward and how they can work with the world community for the development, security and progress of the people of Bangladesh, especially how Bangladesh and the Republic of Korea can improve their partnership in this regard. We drew their attention to how the Republic of Korea could assist in the treatment of those injured in the recent movement. They are assuring us in this regard. At this moment we need their cooperation very fundamentally. We also discussed how the expatriate Bangladeshis living in Korea can contribute more with their honesty and skills and asked for cooperation so that more Bangladeshis can go to Korea. Our discussion has been very good, satisfactory. They have assured us that they will further support Bangladesh. They also had some words – we listened carefully and tried to clear those areas. We felt that they were completely convinced by our words.
Ameer Jamaat also said that during this visit they got a clear idea about the society and social context of Bangladesh.
