BSF shot youth dead on Comilla border

A youth named Kamal Hussain (32) died in BSF firing at Comilla border. At that time BSF members took the body of the young man to India.


The incident took place at Paharpur border of Sadar Dakshin Upazila of Comilla at around 8 pm on Monday (October 7).

The deceased Kamal is the son of Idu Mia of Kuriapara village of East Jorkanan Union of that upazila. According to local sources, he was involved in drug trade.

Locals said that on Monday night, Kamal went to illegally bring drug shipments from India through Paharpur border. At that time, when the BSF personnel saw him and opened fire, he was shot and killed on the spot. Later, BSF personnel took the dead body of Kamal.

BGB Comilla 10 battalion captain Lt. Colonel Md. Iftekhar Hossain said that the deceased Kamal went within 25 yards of the Indian border and was killed by BSF firing. This is what we initially found out. Attempts are being made to contact BSF. On Tuesday, there will be talks about bringing back the body of the deceased. Details on this will be given later.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar South Police Station Rafiqul Islam said, I have heard the matter from journalists. We will inquire and provide details later.
