Commenting that the country must remain united to turn it into a welfare state, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, ‘We want a society in which the rights of all are guaranteed. A society in which beauty, justice, fairness and values are practiced is a good society. Only then will a happy, prosperous and peaceful society be built.’

He made this statement while delivering gifts of winter clothes to the cold-stricken people at the Ward No. 4 Community Center in Mirpur-13 of the capital on Saturday (December 7) evening, organized by Kafrul Uttar Thana Jamaat.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, ‘Jamaat-e-Islami, as a people-oriented and welfare-seeking political party, is trying its best to work for the welfare of the people. And our efforts for the people will continue in the coming days as well, InshaAllah.’

At this time, the program was chaired by Thana Ameer Rezaul Karim and moderated by Secretary Hafez Ashiqur Rahman. Central Executive Council member and Dhaka Metropolitan North Ameer Mohammad Selim Uddin, Jamaat Central Working Committee member and Dhaka Metropolitan North Nayeb Ameer Abdur Rahman Musa, Secretary Dr. Muhammad Rezaul Karim spoke as special guests.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, ‘There is a slogan in our country’s politics, the party is bigger than the individual, and the country is bigger than the party. But there is no reflection of this in the country’s conventional politics. Jamaat also gives the same slogan in the political arena. But the exception in this case is that we do not end our responsibility with that slogan. We try to implement it properly. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, those who work for the welfare of people are the best.’

The Jamaat Ameer said, “Winter has not yet fully arrived in the capital. But we are distributing winter clothes as part of advance preparations. We do not want to take all the credit for the good work. We are just trying to show the way to others. We hope that everyone will come forward for this great work. Stand by the underprivileged.”

Referring to Jamaat’s welfare activities, he said, “Jamaat has established various institutions for the welfare of the people. We have established schools, colleges, universities and madrasas. We are also providing medical services to the common people. We are providing ambulance and hearse services. We are working with the conviction of establishing a society where human rights are guaranteed. Our movement will continue until we reach that goal.”

In his speech as a special guest, Mohammad Selim Uddin said, ‘Jamaat is working relentlessly with the determination to build a new Bangladesh free from hunger, poverty, misrule and mismanagement. We want to gift the nation with a society where there will be no discrimination between people. All people, regardless of religion or caste, will enjoy equal rights.
