Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has commented that the ISKCON movement in different parts of the country has domestic and foreign fuel.
He said this to reporters after an exchange meeting regarding the law and order situation with administrative and departmental officials at Sylhet Circuit House on Tuesday (November 26) evening.
The Home Affairs Adviser said that there is domestic and foreign fuel in the recent ISKCON movement in different parts of the country. The goal of a particular group is to create an unstable environment in the country.
He said, considering the situation, law and order in the country is much better than in the past few months. However, some apprehension remains as the looted weapons have not yet been recovered.
Addressing the law and order forces, the home adviser said that no one can be arrested in white clothes. If someone wants to know the identity, they have to show proper proof. No one can be arrested without reason. If someone gives you an illegal order, do not follow it either.
He said, false cases have increased. A false case cannot be taken under any circumstances. If someone files a false case, he should be brought under the law. Extortion and harassment with false cases should be stopped. To maintain law and order, work should be done no matter what is said. In order to work, many problems have to be faced. Everyone has to consider the circumstances under which you are starting work. Work has to be done whether anyone appreciates it or not.
He also said that illegal arms recovery operation should be strengthened. Law enforcement should be wary of mob justice. Top terrorists should be swiftly brought to book if they re-engage in wrongdoing after being brought out in the legal process. The situation has improved in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur with the combined efforts of all forces to control crime. Good results will be obtained if everyone works together. Those who have information about crimes will help others with it.
On the students’ movement, the Home Affairs Adviser said that they can express their anger by coming to Suhrawardy Udyan without blocking the road with their demands. Or can discuss with us. We want a peaceful solution. We do not want to be harsh on the student movement in any way.
He said that discussions are going on with all parties including teachers, students, parents. We hope to create a stable environment soon.
