Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested two Bangladeshi women for illegal entry at Akhaura border crossing in Brahmanbaria. They were returning illegally from India to Bangladesh.
This information was informed through a press release sent from Sarail Battalion 25 BGB on Friday morning. Earlier on Thursday, they were arrested from Abdullahpur border area of Akhaura Upazila South Union.
The arrested are Swapna Begum, daughter of Delwar Hossain, a resident of Zero Point area of Khulna Sadar Upazila, and Sonia Akhter, daughter of Habibur Rahman, a resident of Buriyakhali village of Hoogla Bunia Union of Nazirpur Upazila of Pirojpur District.
According to the press release, the arrested two people illegally went to the Indian state of Tripura about 3 months ago. Both of them were working at their home in Agartala, the state capital.
On Thursday afternoon, while returning to Bangladesh through 2022/9-S pillar area of Abdullahpur border of South Union of the upazila, they were arrested by the patrolling soldiers of Fakirmura BGB camp in the cooperation of Bangladeshi human trafficker Dalal Saimun in exchange of five thousand rupees through the Lankamura border of Tripura.
25 BGB Commander Lt. Col. Farah Mohammad Imtiaz said that BGB is on alert to protect border security, stop smuggling and prevent illegal infiltration. The detainees were handed over to Akhaura police station at night.
