Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi has claimed that Saudi Arabia played a role in the fall of Imran Khan’s government. Imprisoned Imran Khan’s wife made this claim in a rare video message. Besides, in the video, he called upon the leaders and activists of Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to join the protest march to be held in Islamabad on November 24.
On Thursday (November 21), the Pakistani media Geo News reported that Saudi Arabia played a role in the fall of Imran Khan’s government through a no-confidence vote in Pakistan’s parliament in 2020.
In a video shared on PTI’s official X handle, the Bushes alleged that when former Prime Minister Imran Khan visited Madina ‘barefoot’, then Army Chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa started answering ‘their’ calls.
By this word ‘them’, the former prime minister’s wife basically referred to the officials of Saudi Arabia. Bushra Bibi pointed to the officials of Saudi Arabia who expressed their displeasure with Imran Khan’s actions. He claimed, ‘Bajwa was asked, what kind of person is this that you have brought to power…we don’t want such a personality.
Bushra Bibi also said, ‘Since then they started maligning us and started calling Imran Khan a Jewish agent.’
At that time, he said, the PTI founder has sent a message that everyone should join the November 24 protest. This date will not change in any way.
Meanwhile, Pakistan government strongly protested after Bushra Bibi’s allegations against Saudi Arabia. They termed the comments as a ‘suicide attack’ on friendly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
On the other hand, senior Pakistani journalist Ansar Abbasi responded to Bushra Bibi’s comments saying that sources close to General Bajwa dismissed Bushra Bibi’s allegations as baseless. Sources said, ‘It all ended because of Imran’s wife.’
They also said, ‘Bajwa did not take any calls after that visit.’
Also, Pakistan Ulama Council Chairman Maulana Tahir Ashrafi—who was present during Imran Khan’s visit to Saudi Arabia—denied Bushra Bibi’s allegations and said the PTI founder got more than he expected during his visit to Saudi Arabia.
