Former Justice Mohammad Fazlul Karim (81) passed away (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihir Rajiun).
He died at a private hospital in the capital on Saturday (November 16) at 4:45 am.

Justice Fazlul Karim was born on September 30, 1943 in Suchakradandi village of Patia Upazila of Chittagong. His father’s name is Ahmed Kabir. He is a descendant of Abdul Karim literary scholars.
Fazlul Karim matriculated from Kazem Ali High School, Potia in 1958 and BA from Chittagong College in 1960. After receiving his LLB degree from Dhaka University in 1962, he became Bar at Law from Lincoln’s Inn, London in 1969.
In 1965, he was enrolled at the Chittagong Bar as a lawyer. Then in 1970 he was enrolled as a lawyer in the High Court and in 1979 in the Appellate Division.
Justice Karim was the General Secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association from 1982 to 1984 and a member of the Bangladesh Bar Council in 1992.
On 1 November 1992, he took oath as a temporary judge of the High Court. He settled after two years. He joined the Appellate Division on 15 May 2001.
