Taksim Khan killed in the country!

Taksim A Khan, former MD of Dhaka Wasa, a highly influential official of the ousted Awami League government, performed his last duties at the main office of Dhaka Wasa in Karwan Bazar of the capital on August 4. Resigned ten days later. Since then, whether he is in the country or has gone abroad, there has been a mystery. However, contemporary search has found information about his stay in the country.

According to several sources, since the fall of the Awami League government, he could not go abroad despite many efforts. He and his family members are US citizens. His wife and only child are permanent residents of the United States. He will also go there if he gets a chance.

According to the investigation, Taksim A Khan is currently under the shelter of a high-ranking officer of a particularly influential force. He will be sent to the United States as soon as possible. He was in charge of MD for 16 consecutive years with the blessing of Awami League government despite being involved in various scandals including corruption.

Taksim driver Madhav Gopal Majumdar told Samakal that on August 3, when he was on his way home from his office at the head office of Dhaka Wasa in Karwan Bazar, Taksim, when he reached the Wills Little Flower School in Kakrail, the angry crowd threw stones at his car. Later drove the car on the opposite side of the road and went to Nayapaltan’s house. The next day, August 4, Taksim came to the office as usual. Leave the office in another vehicle instead of taking the designated official vehicle after the holiday. He has had no contact with Taksim since August 5. Taksim submitted his resignation by e-mail on August 14.

According to multiple sources in Dhaka Wasa, Taksim was staying in the capital’s five-star Sonargaon hotel with great secrecy. He entered this hotel on the night of August 5. Stayed in a room on the top floor. Later, he covered his face at a convenient time and left the Sonargaon hotel in an influential army vehicle to a safe place.

Taksim joined Dhaka Wasa as MD in 2009. As per the latest contract, his tenure was to end on October 14, 2026. Although he is not currently in Dhaka Wasa, the people in his group are managing the overall activities of Wasa. The accomplices of corruption in Taksim are still in custody.

After the fall of the Awami League government, ministers, MPs, political leaders were arrested, pro-Awami officials at various levels of the administration were expelled on a large scale and OSD was done, but Dhaka WASA is still intact. PS, APS, staff officers of the former MD’s office have been hiding for some time after August 5, but currently they are working regularly. After Taksim’s resignation, Fazlur Rahman, additional secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, has been given the charge of Dhaka Wasa MD (additional charge).

Taksim has committed corruption in various fields including recruitment, trade and project implementation. ACC is preparing a case after investigating his corruption allegations. In the meantime, ACC Deputy Director Nazrul Islam has submitted a report to the Commission recommending a case against those involved in Dhaka Wasa including Taksim. A case will be filed against them after joining the new commission.

According to ACC sources, evidence was found against Taksim of misappropriation of public funds by appointing two directors outside the organogram in violation of the law. The ACC official has recommended a case against 10 people including Taksim on this charge. Apart from this, two more cases of corruption have been recommended in the project. According to the investigation report, the information of embezzlement of Tk 1 crore 98 lakh through recruitment corruption has been mentioned against the accused.

ACC spokesperson and director general Akhter Hossain told Samakal that further legal action will be taken as per the recommendations of the inquiry report. Dhaka Wasa MD Fazlur Rahman was on a foreign trip so it was not possible to talk to him.
