Israel has launched a ground campaign in Lebanon after airstrikes in various places including Beirut and the killing of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah.

Israeli media reported that Israeli tanks and artillery forces had already entered southern Lebanon. At the same time, the occupying country is also conducting air strikes.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said its troops had launched “limited, localized and targeted ground strikes” against Hezbollah targets and infrastructure in southern Lebanon.

They said they were targeting Lebanese villages near the border. Hezbollah posed a threat to Israeli communities in northern Israel from these positions.

Israel’s political leaders approved the attack. Earlier, the IDF General Staff and the Northern Command completed preparations and planning in this regard, the Israeli army said. They said the ground troops are currently being supported by the air force and artillery.

The attack, dubbed ‘Operation Northern Arrows’, is an extension of the operation that began last month. The attack seemed imminent for the past few days. Tensions were rising as the movement continued to fire rockets at Israeli military positions in Israel, particularly after the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

The Radwan Force, Hamas’s elite force, lost several top commanders in the Israeli attack. But their fighters are still active. Nasrullah said during his lifetime that Hezbollah had more than 100,000 fighters. As a result the commanders were killed but their assistants remained. There are also warriors. And their infrastructure is still active in southern Lebanon. They are expected to be able to resist. But they are expected to face a tough test.

Meanwhile, the organization’s deputy leader, Naeem Kassem, announced that Hezbollah is ready for a ground attack on Israel. Yesterday Monday (September 30) from an unknown place, he made this announcement in a public address for the first time.

It was Qassem’s first statement since Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah was killed in the latest Israeli attack. We are ready to face any situation and we are ready to engage in ground war if Israel enters by land, Naeem Kassem said. He also said that Israel will not achieve the goal. We have won before, we will win again. Source: Al Jazeera.
