Thanjama Lusai, chairman of Bandarban’s newly appointed Zilla Parishad, said that efforts will be made to bring the members of the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF), an armed organization of the Chittagong Hill Tracts, back to normal life through negotiations.
He said, ‘Due to misunderstanding, a section has gone astray with arms. All kinds of initiatives will be taken under the guidance of the government to bring them back to a beautiful natural environment.’
The newly appointed chairman of the Zilla Parishad said this while talking to this representative at his residence on Friday (November 8) morning.
Thanjama Lusai said, ‘The current interim government has taken over in a changed situation. The government is leading the country towards a beautiful election. We all should support this government.’
Besides, the development of agriculture, tourism industry and education system will be given importance. Regarding corruption, the Zilla Parishad chairman said, ‘The present government is working with utmost importance in fighting corruption. The district council will also work under the guidance of the government to prevent corruption.
It is to be noted that after three months, the interim three hill district councils were reconstituted on Thursday by the order of the President. In this, Professor Thanjama Lusai was appointed as Bandarban, Kajal Talukdar as Rangamati and first woman chairman Jiruna Tripura as Khagrachari Zilla Parishad Chairman.
