The blockade that has been called to protest the conflict, violence and casualties in the three hill districts of Bangladesh has had a major impact on public life there.

Four people were killed in Khagrachari and Rangamati, shops were set on fire and a 72-hour blockade was called yesterday under the banner of ‘Angry Jumma Chhatra Janata’.

This program has been supported by the organization called Pahari Chhatra Andolan against conflict and discrimination. Apart from this, the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) also supported the blockade.

Local journalists told BBC Bangla that the situation is now calm in the districts. Army is on high alert. They have intensified patrolling especially in conflict-prone areas.

No one leaves the house unless necessary. Even if he comes out, he has to face the question.

And since the blockade is going on, all forms of transport are currently closed there. No long distance vehicles are plying in the three districts. Common people have suffered due to this.
