14 killed including Hezbollah commander in Israeli attack

At least 14 people, including a Hezbollah commander, were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. Another 59 people were injured. 8 of them are in critical condition. 

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) itself reported the attack in Beirut on Friday. Lebanon’s Ministry of Health reported that there was an attack in South Beirut. This area is known as Hezbollah’s stronghold. Reuters news.

According to the report, the top Hezbollah commander named Ibrahim Akil was killed in the southern suburbs of Beirut. Members of Hezbollah’s elite force Radwan were also killed along with him. Israeli forces attacked them during a special meeting.

The Israeli military said it had targeted Hezbollah military positions in Beirut’s Dhahiyeh area. The force said, “Specified targets were attacked in Beirut.”

In response to this incident, the Iranian embassy in Lebanon said that Israel had crossed “all lines” in the air strike. In a post on social media, they claimed that Israel had also attacked residential areas.

White House spokesman John Kirby claimed that Israel had not informed the US before carrying out the attack. He said, he does not know about this. US citizens should avoid Lebanon. The Biden administration does not want any more conflict in the region.

Earlier on Friday, Hezbollah attacked Israel’s border area with 150 rockets. This information was reported by the news agency Reuters about the Israeli public broadcaster Can. 

Israel’s National Ambulance Service says there were no initial reports of casualties in the attack. Earlier, Hizbullah said that they had carried out 7 attacks with Katyusha rockets. Later they said that a total of 140 rockets were used to attack various Israeli targets. 

According to Al Jazeera, some Israeli media have published the information of one casualty in these attacks.
