India lead by 308 runs against Bangladesh

India took a lead of 227 runs against visiting Bangladesh in the first innings of the first Test of the two-match series. Then in the second innings, Rohit Sharma lost 3 wickets for 81 runs and got a lead of 308 runs.

India lost the wickets of Rohit, Yashwi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli in the second innings. Taskin failed to predict the bounce of the ball. The ball hit Rohit’s bat and went to the hands of Zakir Hasan standing at slip. Rohit out by 5 runs. Jaiswal was then dismissed by Nahid as a runner. Outside off stump, the ball hits the bat and goes to Liton Das. Virat was later bowled lbw by Mehdi.

Earlier, visiting Bangladesh were bowled out for 149 runs in response to India’s 376 runs. As a result, the Tigers fell in the follow-on.

Bangladesh lost 5 wickets out of 40 runs in their first innings.

Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das tried to relieve the pressure of the team by making a pair of 51 runs in the sixth wicket.

Shakib was out for 32 and Liton for 22 runs. After the return of Shakib-Litton between 92 runs, Mehdi Hasan Miraj took Bangladesh’s run close to one and a half hundred with the tail-enders. In the end, Bangladesh were bowled out for 149 runs.

Miraj remained unbeaten on 27 runs, but Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana were dismissed for 11 runs. India’s Jasprit Bumrah took four wickets, Akash Deep, Mohammad Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each.

Earlier in the first innings of the Chennai Test, India collected 376 runs by losing all wickets in 91 overs. Ravichandran Ashwin scored the highest 113 runs for the team. Moreover, 86 runs came from the bat of Ravindra Jadeja. Hasan was the best bowler of the innings, taking 5 wickets for 83 runs for Bangladesh. Besides, Taskin got 3 wickets for 55 runs.

At the beginning of the second day, Ravindra Jadeja was shown the way to the dressing room by Taskin Ahmed. He was caught by wicketkeeper Liton Das with a bouncy ball of good length in the third over. As a new batsman, this right-handed pacer also made Asha Akash Deep his victim on the wicket. Aakash Deep returned for 17 runs by catching Shanto.

Earlier, Shakib Al Hasan got the life of Akash with a personal 8 runs. Standing at square leg, Shakib reached the ball a bit back but could not collect it.

The third wicket of the day also went to Taskin. Taskin bowled the fifth ball of the 91st over of the innings well outside the off stump. Ashwin was caught at mid-off while standing there. 113 runs came from his bat before returning to the dressing room.

Hasan completed his fifer with the last wicket of the innings. On the second ball of the 92nd over, Bumrah was caught at third slip after punching Hasan’s off-stump ball. Hasan took 5 wickets in back to back innings through this wicket. Hasan took 5 for 43 in Pakistan’s second innings in the second Test at Rawalpindi. Then he took 5 wickets for 83 runs in India’s first innings in Chennai. Hasan became the first pacer of Bangladesh to get 5 wickets on Indian soil.
