As the water continues to rise, the 16 sluices of Kaptai Dam have been opened again by six inches.
The water closets were opened from 6 pm on Saturday (September 14).
Sources of the Karnaphuli Water Power Plant said that after keeping the sluices open for 15 days from August 25, 16 sluices of the dam were closed at 10 am on September 9. The continuous rains of the last few days have increased the water in the Kaptai lake due to the hill slopes coming down from the upstream, and the 16 sluices of the Kaptai dam have been opened to 6 inches from 6 pm on Saturday. In this, 9 thousand cusecs of water is being released from Kaptai lake to Karnaphuli river every second. The water level of Kaptai Lake was 108.55 MSL (Mean Sea Level) till 6 pm.
Karnaphuli Water Power Plant Manager Engineer ATM Abduzzahe said that if the water level increases, the amount of gate opening will be increased.
