The Chinese army has entered 60 km inside the Indian territory – this is what the residents of Arunachal have said. Locals claim that a Chinese army camp has been seen in Anjo district of Arunachal.
Indian media Anandabazar Patrika reported on Saturday (September 7).
According to the news, locals said that a Chinese army camp was found in Kapapu area of Anjo district.
A report by India Today also claimed that the Chinese army has been camped in the area for a week! The same was reported by Indian Army freighters.
The Chinese camp is located near the Hadigra Pass, 60 km from the McMahon Line.
It is to be noted that two Indian brothers went missing two years ago from Chaglagam area of Anjo district. They were residents of a village near the Line of Actual Control. The two got lost while searching for medicinal plants in the border region of China.
Locals claimed that they are being held captive by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA). Several attempts to contact the Indian Army for information about the missing persons were to no avail.
Anjore MLA and State Women and Child Development Minister Dasanglu Pul told the news agency at the time, ‘China has not directly acknowledged whether the two youths are in their custody or not. But I have been told, both are alive.’
However, no minister of that state has yet commented on the Chinese incursion in Anjo.
Apart from the two brothers, several people have gone missing from the India-China border before. Earlier in September 2020, five youths were found missing from Subansiri district. They returned after a week in PLA custody. In 2022, a teenager was held captive by Chinese soldiers for nine days.
Chinese intrusion into Indian territory has come to light several times before. In 2019, China built a temporary wooden bridge over the Daimru Nala near Amako camp on the Sino-Arunachal border. In 2020, Chinese forces also entered Dibong district.
