All 57 Bangladeshis imprisoned in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for protesting in support of the quota reform movement may be released and sent back home within a week, Olora Afrin, a lawyer appointed by the Bangladesh government, told BBC Bangla.

He also said that the country’s court has already issued an order to release them from prison.

“We had already submitted the necessary documents. Today the court has ordered to release all of them in the same order,” Miz Afrin told BBC Bangla on Tuesday afternoon.

“Therefore, we expect them to be taken out and sent back to the country within the next week. Maybe a day or two may be more or less,” he said.
