Five people were killed in a collision between a bus and a truck at Kashiani in Gopalganj. 25 others were injured.
The accident took place on the Dhaka-Gopalganj highway in Majhighati area of the upazila at around 7:30 am on Sunday (September 1).
Four of the five victims have been named so far. They are Samad Ali (40), Tania Afroz, Sakibur Rahman (35) and Raheez Sheikh (24). All the deceased were passengers of the bus.
Officer-in-charge of Kashiani police station, Md. Zillur Rahman, said that a vehicle of Imad Paribahan, which had left Gopalganj for Dhaka, collided with a truck coming from the other side when it reached Majhigati area of Kashiani upazila in Gopalganj. In the accident, the front part twisted and the truck lost control and fell into the ditch.
The OC also said that the injured have been rescued and admitted to different hospitals. The body will be sent to Sadar Hospital Morgue for autopsy.
