The bank accounts of two ministers of the ousted Awami League government, a state minister, a member of parliament (MP) and a former member of parliament of Jatiya Party have been seized. At the same time, the bank account of former joint commissioner of DMP Biplab Kumar Sarkar has also been seized. Along with them, the bank accounts of their family members and interested persons and business establishments will also be seized. No transaction can be done as such. No money can be transferred. If there are any credit cards in their name, their transactions will also be blocked.
In this regard, Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has sent a letter to the chief executives of commercial banks and finance companies on Tuesday.
In this phase, the bank accounts of Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel, State Minister for Electricity, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid Bipu, Narayanganj 4 seat Awami League MP Shamim Osman, his brother Narayanganj 5 seat Jatiya Party MP Salim Osman have been seized. Besides, the bank account of DMP Joint Commissioner Biplab Kumar Sarkar has also been seized.
It is said in the letter, if there is any account in the bank or finance company in the name of these persons or all accounts which are now closed should be sent to BFIU.
