Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 850 kg of hilsa in Comilla while being smuggled to India. These hilsa were seized from the Chanpur Bridge area of Panchthubi Union of Adarsh Sadar Upazila yesterday Sunday (September 15) afternoon.
Commander of Comilla Battalion (10 BGB) Lt. Col. Md. confirmed the seizure of Hilsa fish. Iftekhar Hossain. He said that a team of BGB raided the spot based on secret information. However, the smugglers fled after hearing about the BGB operation.
He said that 850 kg of hilsa fish in 35 boxes were being smuggled into India, the estimated price of which is 9 lakh 52 thousand taka.
Earlier, BGB seized 440 kg of hilsa in Comilla last Thursday (September 12) while it was being illegally smuggled into India.
