Polling for the second phase of the Sixth Upazila Parishad election is underway in 156 upazilas across the country. Simultaneous polling started from 8 am. Which will run continuously till 4 pm.
The Election Commission (EC) said that in the first two hours of the start of polling i.e. from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, 7-8 percent votes were cast across the country.
Ashok Kumar Debnath, Additional Secretary of the Election Commission (EC) gave this information at 11:15 on Tuesday.
He said, voting has started smoothly in 156 upazilas of this phase at 8 am. So far no untoward incident has occurred anywhere. However, an Ansar member died of a heart attack due to physical illness in Sirajganj Sadar Upazila.
The additional secretary also said that the voting started only two hours ago. According to the data obtained from different districts, the voting rate is different in each region. Somewhere more, somewhere less. However, this rate will increase with time.
The total number of centers in 156 upazilas is 13 thousand 16. There are 91 thousand 589 polling booths. There are 8,841 temporary polling booths. Total voters of this phase are 3 crore 52 lakh 4 thousand 748 people. Among them there are 1 crore 79 lakh five thousand 464 male voters. There are 1 crore 72 lakh 99 thousand 47 female voters and 237 third gender voters.
Out of 495 upazilas of the country, the commission decided to conduct polling in 476 upazilas in four phases. In some of these upazilas, the election has been postponed due to the complications of cases and the death of legitimate candidates in the announcement of the schedule. Election time for 19 upazila parishads is not yet, the organization said that polls will be taken in those parishads later.
