6 more deaths, 80 thousand infected with dengue

Aedes mosquito-borne dengue fever continues to spread. Six more people have died due to this fever in the last 24 hours.


Besides, 1 thousand 83 people have been infected with dengue in the last one day. This year, 421 people died of dengue and a total of 81 thousand 68 people were affected.

This is known from the information provided by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Department of Health on Monday (November 18) evening.

According to the Department of Health, there are currently four thousand and eight dengue patients admitted in various public and private hospitals across the country. Among them, 1 thousand 653 people are admitted in Dhaka. The remaining 2 thousand 355 people are admitted in different departments outside Dhaka.

Among the new hospital admissions, there are 84 people in Barisal Division, 107 in Chittagong Division, 280 in Dhaka Division (outside City Corporation), 244 in Dhaka North City, 115 in Dhaka South City, 145 in Khulna Division. Besides, 58 new patients have been admitted in Rajshahi division, 36 in Mymensingh division, 10 in Rangpur division and 4 in Sylhet division.

Meanwhile, in the last one day, 1104 dengue patients have been discharged from the hospital across the country. 76 thousand 638 people got clearance this year.

The Department of Health said that since January this year, a total of 81,68 patients have been admitted to the hospital. However, 421 people have died of dengue so far this year.

Dengue outbreaks occur every year during the rainy season. From June 2023, the dengue situation became dire. Last year 3 lakh 21 thousand 179 patients were admitted to the hospital and received treatment in the country. Among them, 100,800 people were treated in Dhaka and 211,171 people outside Dhaka.

Three lakh 18 thousand 749 people recovered from the hospital and returned home. Last year, 1,705 people died of the mosquito-borne disease, the highest single-year death toll in the country’s history.
