5,500 kg government rice was recovered from a house in Sirajganj

Army has seized 183 sacks of rice in Kazipur of Sirajganj on suspicion of food-friendly rice.

Today Friday (November 8) in the early morning of Beripotal village of the upazila, rice was seized in sacks in a tin-shaded house of a former head teacher’s house.

Kazipur Army Camp Acting Camp Commander Senior Warrant Officer Md. This campaign was conducted under the supervision of Shariful Islam. Later Kazipur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (Acting) Sabrin Akhtar went to the spot and sealed the house along with rice.

In this regard, Kazipur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (Acting) Sabrin Akhter said that based on secret information, an army team raided the house of former head teacher Jahangir Alam around 3 pm. A total of 5,490 kg of rice was found in 183 sacks. Initially, it seems that the seized rice is government food friendly rice. However, the government sacks have been changed and they have been kept in other sacks. The matter has been brought to the notice of the Food Officer. He also said that the room with the rice has been kept sealed for the time being. No one could be arrested in this incident.

Former headmaster Jahangir Alam, the owner of the house, said, ‘I have rented the house. I don’t know what rice Bharatiya has put there.’

The UNO said that the local food warehouse officer has been instructed to file a regular case in this regard.
