After 11 days of looting 95 gold ornaments by kidnapping a businessman in Singair of Manikganj, 48 gold pieces of gold were recovered by digging the soil of a cowshed of a house in Munshiganj. At this time, the police arrested two more members of the dacoit group. In all, six people have been arrested in this incident. They are – Samrat Mridha, Mirazul Sheikh, Amiz Uddin, Shah Alam Mia, Siddique Sheikh and Shamimuzzaman.
Manikganj Superintendent of Police Mohammad Golam Azad Khan gave this information in a press conference on Thursday.
He said that Siddique Sheikh, a member of the dacoit gang, was arrested on Wednesday from Kuchiamora Toll Plaza of Sirajdikhan Police Station in Munshiganj district on the basis of secret information during the investigation of the case of gold robbery and abduction of a businessman. Based on the information given by him, Shah Alam Mia, another member of the dacoit gang, was arrested. Later, after digging the soil of the cowshed of Shah Alam’s homestead, 48 bars of gold were recovered. After the legal process, the arrested gang members were handed over to the court on Thursday.
Singair police station OC Ziarul Islam said five accused have been arrested. The main accused Shamimuzzaman is a soldier. He was working as DAD in Gazipur Training Center in RAB-1. The incident of gold robbery took place under his leadership. As the accused is a soldier, he has been handed over to the army. According to Shamimuzzaman’s plan, the accused hired the Hiace car. The vehicle used in the robbery, the RAB ID card and the sticker written by the RAB have been seized.
On the morning of June 1, in the Jamsha Amtala area of Singair, Manikganj, 8-9 people, posing as RAB members, stopped a CNG-driven auto-rickshaw carrying Sumon Halder and his two employees, a gold trader from Joypara, Dhaka, and looted 95 bags of gold ornaments.
