After the anti-discrimination student movement and the fall of Sheikh Hasina, the new form of the National Citizen Committee emerged. Nasiruddin Patwari was convened and Akhtar Hossain was the member secretary of this 55-member organization established with the aim of building a consensus for the reconstruction of Bangladesh as an inclusive democratic state. This time, 45 more people have been added to the scope of that committee.

Earlier on September 8, a 55-member National Citizens Committee was formed with the aim of reforming and restructuring the state. Nasiruddin Patwari, a former student of Marketing Department of Dhaka University and former research and information affairs assistant editor of AB Party was convened in the committee. Akhtar Hossain, a former student of DU Law Department and former social welfare secretary of DAKSU, was made the member secretary of the committee.
