Membership of the National Press Club has been suspended for 37 senior journalists for inciting genocide and acting as proxies of the fallen government during the July Revolution student uprising.
This matter was informed in a notice signed by National Press Club President Hasan Hafeez and General Secretary Ayub Bhuiyan on Monday (November 18). This decision was taken in the press club management committee meeting held on October 27.
Among those suspended are Nurul Amin Prabhas, Zayedul Ahsan Pintu, Mozammel Babu, Ashish Saikat, Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Sohail Haider Chowdhury, Farzana Rupa, Ashok Chowdhury, Ajmal Haque Helal, Abul Khair, Mohammad Manjurul Islam, Pranab Saha, Naeem Nizam. , Khairul Alam, Abed Khan, Subhash Chand Badal, Zahirul Islam Mamun (J.E Mamun), Zafar Wazed, Saiful Islam Kallol, Pavel Rahman, Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, Shaban Mahmud, Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman, Abul Kalam Azad, Shyamal Sarkar, Ajay Dasgupta, Alamgir Hossain, Ramaprasad Sarkar Babu, Sanjay Saha Piyal, Faraji Ajmal Hossain, Anisur Rahman, Enamul Haque Chowdhury, Naemul Islam Khan, Md. Ashraf Ali, Molla Jalal, Ikhtiyar Uddin and Abu Zafar Surya.
Ayub Bhuiyan, general secretary of the National Press Club confirmed the suspension of membership and said that their membership will be suspended for an indefinite period.
