This information was given in a report of the Pakistan-based media The News International on Sunday.According to the report, former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan on Saturday presented three conditions for talks with the government to bring political stability in the country.Imran Khan presented these terms during an informal interaction with reporters in the courtroom.Imran Khan’s first condition is that my cases should be dismissed, second is to release our party members and third is to return our mandate.Meanwhile, a court of Pakistan on Saturday (July 13) canceled the seven-year prison sentence of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife.Regarding the verdict, Khan’s lawyer said the court had sentenced former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife to seven years in prison in a case filed in 2018 for alleged illegal marriage. Almost a year after he was sent to prison, the last hurdle to his release was clearedNaeem Panjutha, one of Imran Khan’s lawyers, said the court announced the verdict in the garrison town of Rawalpindi. And this is where the former prime minister has been detained.Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were acquitted two weeks after another appellate court on February 5 upheld their conviction and sentence. The court, in its summary order, said the couple should be released if they are not charged in any other case.Bushra Bibi is Imran Khan’s third wife and a spiritual guru. Bushra Bibi divorced her former husband in November 2017, less than three months before marrying Imran Khan. According to Islamic law in Pakistan, divorced women have to wait three months before remarrying.Bushra Bibi said they got divorced in August 2017. The couple insisted during the trial that they had not violated the waiting period. It is not clear how the government will react to the court order. Authorities have filed multiple cases against Imran Khan since he was ousted in a no-confidence vote in Parliament in 2022.The order came a day after Pakistan’s Supreme Court ruled that Imran Khan’s party was unfairly deprived of at least 20 seats in parliament. This is a significant blow to the country’s weak ruling coalition.Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party was earlier excluded from the provision of additional seats reserved for women and minorities in the National Assembly, or the lower house of parliament. However, the verdict was a major political victory for Imran Khan. But this will not put his party in a position to oust Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s government. Shahbaz came to power after the February 8 elections. However, Khan’s allies have been claiming that the vote was rigged.Since his arrest in May 2023, Imran Khan has been involved in more than 150 cases including incitement to violence. Khan’s supporters attacked military and government buildings during the ensuing riots across the country. In the north-west, a residential building of the state-owned Radio Pakistan was set on fire by the aggressors. The violence subsided only after the Supreme Court released Imran Khan. Khan was arrested again in early August 2023 after a court sentenced him to three years in prison for corruption.Since then he has been granted bail by various courts in the cases in which he has been convicted.
