Former land minister arrested while fleeing to India

Member of Parliament of Khulna-5 Constituency and former Land Minister Narayan Chandra Chand has been detained by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

He was arrested from Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah while illegally fleeing to India on Sunday (October 6) night.

According to BGB, former land minister and former MP of Khulna-5 Constituency Narayan Chandra Chand was arrested at Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah while fleeing to India illegally.

BGB Headquarters Public Relations Officer Md. Shariful Islam confirmed the arrest.

Narayan Chandra Chand, Member of Parliament of Khulna-5 Constituency, got the responsibility of Lands Ministry after the 12th National Parliament Elections. Before this, he was also elected as a Member of Parliament in the elections of 2008, 2014 and 2018. On January 12, 2014, he took oath as the Minister of State for Fisheries and Livestock. A few days later, when the Minister of Fisheries and Livestock Chayedul Haque died, he got the responsibility of the minister of that ministry.
