Apply to LGED to get appointment in previous quota

Local Government Engineering Directorate (LGED) A group is waiting to get recruitment from the waiting list following previous quota system for various posts under revenue sector.

Earlier there was 56 percent in various quotas for direct recruitment in government jobs. But based on the judgment of the High Court, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on July 23, 2024 amending the existing quota system of the government. But a group is trying to get recruitment in the previous quota from the waiting list for various posts of LGED and has taken up residence in LGED Bhawan area of ​​Agargaon.

This information was informed through a press release from the Local Government Department of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives on Thursday (October 3).

According to the press release, in 12 categories (Clerk cum Computer Operator, Community Organiser, Clerk-cum-Computer Operator, Accounts Assistant, Surveyor, Work Assistant, Electrician, Muazzin, Office Assistant) in the revenue sector of the Local Government Engineering Department in Grade 13-20. Cum-Computer Typist, Office Assistant, Office Assistant and Security Guard) 2 thousand 237 posts published on December 26, 2022. Later, following the quota system set by the then government, the qualified candidates were given the final appointment on October 05 through written and oral examination.

According to the Ministry of Public Administration’s April 17, 2023 circular for the appointment of 13-20th grade employees, a waiting list has been prepared and stored confidentially in a sealed envelope in the Bangladesh Public Works Commission.

According to the circular issued by the Ministry of Public Administration, if any of the candidates recommended for appointment do not join the service or resign from the service after joining the service, if it is necessary to fill the vacant post, the waiting list and the result seats of the passed candidates must be presented in the meeting of the concerned DPC to recommend the candidate for appointment to the vacant post.

On the other hand, based on the judgment of the Bangladesh Supreme Court, the Ministry of Public Administration has revised the previous education quota system and issued a notification of 93 percent based on merit, 5 percent for the children of freedom fighters and veterans, 1 percent for minority ethnic groups and 1 percent for the physically challenged and the third gender. In such circumstances, in the present context, for the purpose of direct recruitment to the posts of 12 categories in the revenue sector of LGED, taking a clear opinion whether the current recruitment from the waiting list prepared following the previously fixed quota system would be lawful or whether it would be necessary to re-prepare the waiting list following the currently fixed quota system. The administrative ministry feels that it is necessary to take a decision.
