The government appointed Zeenat Ara, a retired judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, as the new chairman of the Law Commission. This information was revealed in a notification of the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Department of the Ministry of Law on Wednesday.
Zeenat Ara is going to be the first woman chairman of the Law Commission.
It is said that he will be in charge for the next 3 years. During the performance of duty, he will have the same privileges as a Judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court.
In addition, in two separate announcements, retired Justice Shamim Hasnain and Professor Dr. Naima Haque has been appointed as a member of the commission.
