Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka Metropolitan South Secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud said, “The Awami League has seized the power of the country for the last 15 years and has deprived the common workers of their rightful rights like all professions. Garment workers, transport workers and any level of workers were chased away by the police who baton-charged them, threw tear gas and even beat them like dogs when they demanded their right. Many workers were injured and killed in these incidents. Many labor leaders have been killed and disappeared. Although the price of goods has increased, the value of people has not increased. Rather, Awami League has made people worthless. Many people have become crippled by their torture.’

He said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the workers’ conference organized by the Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Federation on Tuesday night.

Bangladesh Sramik Kalyan Federation Dhanmondi Regional Manager Md. Aminul Islam presided over and Abbas Uddin moderated the staff conference held at a convention center in Hatirpool of the capital. Advocate Atiqur Rahman, general secretary of Bangladesh Sramik Kalyan Federation, spoke as the chief negotiator.

Abdus Salam, President of Dhaka Metropolitan South of Bangladesh Workers Welfare Federation, Dhanmondi Thana Amir Hafez Rashedul Islam, Engineer Taufiq Hasan, Anichur Rahman, Jasim Uddin and Kamruzzaman spoke as special guests.

Dr. Masud said, ‘Awami League has also partisanized the labor arena. Awami League’s corrupt labor leaders have exploited the workers. Innocent workers are being assaulted and jailed for protesting their misdeeds. In 2012, they killed 114 workers in a planned fire at Tazreen Garments. In this way they have destroyed many factories. But there was no proper investigation or even trial of these incidents. If Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami gets the responsibility of running the country, it will ensure strict punishment of the culprits by proper investigation of these incidents.

Before noon Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud said, “while presenting physical examination and wheel chair to a sick old man of a Hindu family of Baufal upazila of Patuakhali at Islami Bank Central Hospital in Kakrail, Capital, he said, Awami League wanted to separate the leaders and activists of Baufal Upazila Jamaate-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir from the people, including me. That is why they have punished many leaders through attacks, lawsuits, murders, disappearances, oppression, torture and even farce trials. But the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami could not be separated from the people and will not be. Leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami were and will remain with the people of Baufar. In the future, if the people of Baufal entrust Jamaat-e-Islami as their servant, then Baufal upazila will be an ideal upazila of Bangladesh.

Mentioning that no people of Baufal will be victims of oppression, he said, ‘Bangladesh will be a welfare state if the people give the opportunity to implement Jamaat-e-Islami’s program. Where there will be no terrorist activities, there will be no corruption, extortion, usurpation. The world will follow the leadership of Bangladesh without discrimination.’

Dr. Masood also said, ‘Awami League itself has seized the property of the Hindu community, destroyed temples, set fire, looted businesses. But they want to blame their misdeeds on Jamaat-e-Islami. But Jamaat-e-Islami has stood by the brothers and sisters of the Hindu community and guarded their wealth, businesses, temples, houses and proved that all the people of the country are safe in the hands of Jamaat-e-Islami. Awami League has made Hindus a minority. Jamaat-e-Islami says that no minority can be identified, everyone is a citizen of the country. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami does not do politics on the basis of party affiliation, caste, caste and ethnicity. The politics of Jamaat-e-Islami is only in the service of people.

He urged the countrymen to forget the differences of party, caste, caste and community and come under the safe shadow of Jamaat-e-Islami without any disturbance.
