Abu Sufian, the rickshaw puller who was shot after taking part in the July mass uprising of the anti-discrimination student movement demanding the downfall of Sheikh Hasina, has also crossed over to the land of no return (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun). He died while undergoing treatment at CMH hospital in the capital after fighting with death for almost two months.


This information was informed in a press release sent by the Central Sub-Committee on Health of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on Tuesday (October 1).

According to the circular, Abu Sufian, who was shot in the July uprising, died at 2:40 PM on Monday (September 30) while undergoing treatment at CMH Hospital. He was shot dead in Jamalpur on August 5. Finally, he was brought to the capital Dhaka for advanced treatment, but he could not recover.

It also said that Abu Sufyan was an auto-rickshaw driver by profession. His first Janaza will be held at Central Shaheed Minar today at 1 pm on the initiative of anti-discrimination student movement.

It is known that Abu Sufian is a 20-year-old common man who grew up in Sadurpara Battala village of Jamalpur. Being born in a low class family, the family could not afford to study. So Sufian used to drive auto rickshaw from childhood. He even got married at a young age and became the father of an eight-month-old son. However, he was active in the anti-discrimination student movement from the beginning.

Incidentally, on Monday (September 30) two people who were shot dead in the July uprising died. One of them is a class 10 student, his name is Saiful Islam Arif. His home is in Feni. Arif was injured in the August 4 agitation. He passed away on life support at CMH at 7 am on Monday. Another is Karimul Islam, whose home is in Habiganj district. He was shot at Jatrabari on August 5 and died at Dhaka Medical at 5 am on Monday.

Meanwhile, on Saturday (September 28), the anti-discrimination student movement reported the death of 1581 people. It is also reported that more than 31,000 students were injured in the July uprising. However, the committee members said that it is not final. They also said that the information of many injured has come more than once and the names of many have not yet been added to the list.
