Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, the nation is now united in a very strong hand. Awami League stood against the entire youth and they committed genocide. They are morally defeated. Now they have to assess whether they have any right to do politics.

He said this in response to reporters’ questions after a courtesy meeting with the family of Lieutenant Tanzim Sarwar Nirjan, a young army officer who was stabbed to death by a robber in Cox’s Bazar. At around 10 pm on Saturday night, he went to Tanjim’s house at Betka Kar in Tangail town and consoled the bereaved family.

At that time Tanjim’s father Sarwar Jahan, mother Shahnaz Khan and sister Tasnubha Sarwar Suchi along with some of their relatives were present. After the exchange of blessings, the Ameer Jamaat conducted prayers for the forgiveness of Tanjim’s soul with them.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, we have asked for two roadmaps from the interim government. One is for reforms and the other is the electoral roadmap. But if the first roadmap is not successful then the second one will also fail. We do not want any failed elections. We want a successful election.

Regarding Sheikh Hasina’s departure from the country in the face of intense agitation, he said, running away is not a good thing. Surely he has now realized that the people of the country do not like him. He is gone and the nation is free. Now let the nation rest in peace. But if he has committed any crime then he must be brought to justice.

At this time, the central assistant secretary general of Jamaat-e-Islami. Rafiqul Islam Khan, District Jamaat Naib Ameer Professor Khandaker Abdur Razzak, District Secretary Humayun Kabir, District Assistant Secretary Hosni Mubarak Babul and Shafiqul Islam Khan and other leaders of the party were present.
