New decision of the Ministry of Commerce to give hilsa to India

Commerce Ministry has decided to export 3000 tons of hilsa to India on the occasion of upcoming Durga Puja. But he has now withdrawn from the decision. According to the new decision, 2,420 tonnes of hilsa have been allowed to be exported to India. 49 institutions have been given this permission. Among them, 48 companies will export 50 tons of 2,400 tons and one company will export 20 tons of hilsa. This hilsa export will continue until October 12.

The new decision was informed by a letter from the Ministry of Commerce to the Chief Controller of Import and Export Controller on Wednesday.

Last time to apply for Hilsa export permit was last Monday till 12 noon. All new and old applications and related documents are scrutinized and final approval is given for the export of Hilsa. Against this eight conditions are given. It has been said that the permit will be valid till October 12.

The conditions with which Hilsa export is allowed every year, have been kept this time. The conditions are to comply with existing export policy regulations, manual inspection of hilsa by customs authorities and submission of export documents to the Ministry of Commerce at the end of each consignment.

In addition, there are conditions not to export more than the allowed amount of hilsa, not to transfer the permit in any way and not to export under contract without an approved exporter. It has been said that the government can stop the export at any time. There are always these conditions.

Meanwhile, on August 11, Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhtar said, ‘The countrymen will not get hilsa, and it will be exported abroad, this cannot happen. Country should be given importance first. It will then be exported.’

The next day on September 22, Finance and Trade Advisor Salehuddin Ahmed told reporters that Hilsa fish is being exported to India for the greater interest and the decision of the highest authority.
