BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has commented that free and fair elections should not take much time through the necessary reforms of the Election Commission.

He made this comment at a function organized on the occasion of the 16th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Nationalist Rural Doctors Association at Dhaka Reporters Unity on Wednesday.

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, they (Awami League) cut the constitution and made it a piece of paper. Now the real essence of the state constitution; It should not take much time to make the necessary reforms to ensure people’s civil rights, free and fair elections, and ensure the independence of the Election Commission.

On the issue of India, Rizvi said, they do not want friendship between us, they want friendship only with a dictator like Sheikh Hasina. They do not like the people of Bangladesh.

Referring to the statement of an advisor about sending hilsa fish to India, he said, talking with emotion will not work. We have never stopped the export of hilsa. But when India’s home minister says, ‘If you see a Bangladeshi at the border, you will be punished by hanging your feet up’, then we will have a different feeling. When there is a crisis in India, they stop exporting onions. Increases export duty. India does not give us an inch.

Financial donations were given to BNP leaders and activists who were victims of murders and disappearances at the event. BNP information secretary Azizul Bari Helal, research secretary agriculturist Shamimur Rahman Shamim and executive committee member Nazim Uddin Alam also spoke.
