Cars, houses, plots, flats – what’s not, former commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Asaduzzaman Miar. RAB arrested him from a black Kluger brand private car on Mohakhali flyover at around 11 pm on September 12. A briefcase in that car was found. The briefcase was seized and taken to the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police office. The briefcase was opened in the presence of top officials. DB receives check books, account statements and FDR documents of various banks in the briefcase. DB officials were shocked to see one of FDR’s documents. FDR documents of at least 10 crore rupees from various banks were found there.
In this regard, a DB official said, after the arrest, the former commissioner is being interrogated on a seven-day remand. During interrogation, he gave information about FDR’s various assets, including his documents.
The DB official said that there are 25 FDRs in Southeast Bank, six FDRs in Mercantile Bank, two FDRs in Shahjalal Islami Bank and one FDR each in Pubali Bank and Dhaka Bank. These FDRs are named after different people. None of those named after FDR are relatives of the former commissioner. Five FDRs have been made in the name of Surma Enterprises in Southeast Bank. Besides Mehdi Hasan, Russell, Akash Ahmed, Anwarul Haque, Delwara Tahera Happy, Sharmin Jahan, Rasedul Haque, 10 people have been FDRed. The amount of money for each FDR is on an average from 10 lakhs to 25 lakhs. Besides, six FDRs have been made in the name of SM Niajan Uddin at Mercantile Bank Rampura branch.
Yesterday was the fifth day of the seven-day remand interrogation of the former commissioner of DMP Asaduzzaman Mia. In the interrogation, this former commissioner has given the information that he has at least several hundred crores of wealth in his personal life. Among them, a flat of 3000 sq ft at 55/1, Siddheshwari, Rupayan Swapna Nilay, a flat at house no. 69, Road No. 12/A, Dhanmondi, a flat at Priyanid, Iskaton Garden, 13/A, house No. 6, Road No. 8/A, Nikunj-1 , 6 storey house on 10 kathas at 166 and 167 of Road No. 1 of L Block of Bashundhara Residential Area, 10 kathas of land at Road No. 406/B of Sector 1 of Purbachal New Town, 21 kathas of land at Aftabnagar Sector No. 3, 67 percent at Chandhola Mauza of Kaliganj Upazila of Gazipur. Land, there are 15 kathas of land in Joar Sahara Mauza and 31 khata of land in Chandkhola Mauza of Gazipur. These assets have been deeded by him and his wife Afroza Zaman, son, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and other close relatives.Sourcekk
During the interrogation, DB got the information of two companies owned by the family members of Achaduzzaman Mia. One of them is Moumita Transport Limited. Afroza Zaman is the wife of its chairman Achaduzzaman. Asaduzzaman was the head of the capital’s route permit committee when he was DMP commissioner. At that time Maumita Paribahan was given route permit. Harisur Rahman Sohan, Vice Chairman of Moumita Transport Limited, is Asaduzzaman’s brother-in-law. Afroza Zaman is the chairman of another company called Shepherd Consortium Limited. The director of this company is Asif Shahadat, the elder son of Asaduzzaman.
