A remittance of Tk 7 thousand 14 crores came in seven days

In the first seven days of this month, remittances of 584.5 million dollars have arrived. Which is 7 thousand 14 crores in Bangladeshi currency (as 120 taka per dollar).

Bangladesh Bank’s latest report says that in the first seven days of September, remittances worth 584.5 million 40 thousand dollars have been sent by expatriate Bangladeshis living in different countries. And 8 million 35 million dollars are coming every day. If the remittance continues like this, it will exceed two and a half billion this month.

The number of banks that have not received any remittance in seven days is 12. These include the state-owned Bangladesh Development Bank or BDBL, the specialized Rajshahi Agricultural Development Bank or RAKAB. The private banks include Community Bank, Citizens Bank, ICB Islami Bank, Padma Bank and Shimonda Bank. Foreign banks include Bank Al-Falah, Habib Bank, National Bank of Pakistan, State Bank of India and Uri Bank.

According to the data of the Central Bank, during the entire month of August, the remittances received in the country through legitimate channels amounted to 222 crore (2.22 billion) dollars. Which is 620 million dollars more than the same period of the previous year (August-2023). Remittances of about 1.6 billion dollars came in August last year.
